Review :
"Where did all YOU zombies come from?
Predestination isn't just the best sci-fi of the year, it's one of the best sci-fi's I've seen since Minority Report or Gattaca. It's one of the best films of the year, period. It's one of the most thought-provoking, mind-bending, sharply written, fiercely original, technically adept, emotionally moving, and powerfully acted science fiction films I've ever seen. Is it "Great great" - like Inception/Gattaca great? Only time will tell, so I'll leave that up to you.

Based on Robert Heinlein's short story All You Zombies, a mind-bending, time-travelling, paradoxical look at causality and paradoxes, Predestination is the next film from the Spierig Brothers, two batty German geeks who might just end up taking a shot at sci-fi royalty (or at the very least, sci-fi nobility) if things keep going the way they are. The film stars Ethan Hawke...
Do You Understand Who You Are?
A mind-bending science fiction masterpiece about time travel and understanding. What exactly is supposed to be understood? Well, I won't give that away and if you choose to watch this film, you'll be happy that I didn't.

A bartender, who's actually something a bit more, starts a conversation with a surly customer. They bet a bottle of liquor that he, the customer, can tell the bartender the best story he's ever heard. This bet is the start of something amazing. He, the customer called the unmarried mother, begins this tale that caught me up like some fantastical spider's web. By the time the unmarried mother's story is over he's worked his way into your heart. Very strange but the strangeness of the whole first half of the film is what endeared it to me.

And then comes the question that sparks the second half of the film. The bartender asks "If I could put the man who ruined your life in front of you and guarantee you'd never get caught...would you kill...
My Mind Has Officially Been Blown
Science Fiction is my favorite genre, so naturally I was excited to see "Predestination", especially considering that it's all about time travel and paradoxes, but more importantly it turned out to be a mind blowing experience. It's been years since I saw a film that left me with so many questions, but don't get me wrong that's a good thing. "Predestination" keeps you guessing throughout the entire ride, and grabbed my attention instantly even through I thought it started to get weird about 5-10 minutes in, but if you keep watching with a mature mindset I'm sure that all kinds of Sci-Fi fans will appreciate this time-looping story. I do feel the need to warn people that this film is very confusing even for someone like me who loves time traveling films, so if paradoxes make you dizzy you might not like " Predestination", but on the other hand if you're a big time Sci-Fi geek like me I highly recommend Predestination.

This unique thing provides surpasses the anticipation, that one has turned into a great buy for me personally, The idea showed up safely and quickly The Last Dragon [Blu-ray]

Celebrate thirty years of BERRY GORDY’S THE LAST DRAGON, now fully remastered in high definition on Blu-ray™. Martial arts student Leroy Green (Taimak) is on a quest to obtain the elusive all-powerful force known as “The Glow.” Along the way, he must battle the evil, self-proclaimed “Shogun of Harlem” – a kung fu warrior also known as Sho’nuff (Julius J. Carry III) – and rescue a beautiful singer (Prince protégée Vanity) from an obsessed record promoter. Combining pulsating music, cutting-edge dancing and the best in non-stop action, BERRY GORDY’S THE LAST DRAGON is kickin’ good fun featuring an amazing Motown soundtrack, including music by Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Vanity and DeBarge performing their smash hit “Rhythm of the Night .”

Review :
A vintage 1980s kung fu/comedy classic
I have always loved this movie. Sure, it's a little bit kooky, but Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon just about has it all: plenty of kung fu action, comedy, romance, great vintage mid-80s music, a little bit of funk styling, and plenty of tributes to the great Bruce Lee; it is also the only film I know of whose two main characters are known by only one name in real life. I actually saw this film twice in the theatre back in 1985, and I can say that of only a few movies. Taimak plays Leroy Green, better known around the New York streets as Bruce Leroy for his impressive kung fu skills. His pursuit of the martial arts is a search for truth and mastery of self, and he is only one step away from acquiring "the glow," a state of being wherein mind and body are one. His pursuit of a new and final "master" keeps getting sidetracked, however. Sho'nuff (Julius Carry III), a particularly nasty dude who proclaims himself to be the Shogun of Harlem, is constantly provoking...
"Just direct-a your feet-sa to Daddy Green's pizza!"
As a kid growing up in the 1980s, I used to watch this movie all the time on HBO. The Last Dragon is one of those movies you see as a child, and you remember it for years into the future. I don't quite know what it is about this film, but it certainly is memorable. I agree 100% with the other viewer that said movies in the 80's had a certain quality about them that you just don't get anymore.

The Last Dragon is as charasmatic as it comes. Part martial arts beat-em-up, part drama, part comedy, and part romantic love story; the formula sounds like a disaster on paper but The Last Dragon pulls it off nicely in an all-around enjoyable film.

I take the film to also be, at least in part, a social satire as well. The cast of characters includes people from a wide variety of racial/ethnic backgrounds, and the movie itself abounds in stereotypes. However, there is a major dose of role reversal, as the stereotypes are moved around and attached to different groups. Thus, we...
WHO'S THE MASTA?!
SHO'NUFF! THE SHOGUN......OF HARLEM!
This has got to be one of the funniest and cheesiest Kung Fu movies I have ever seen. However, don't let that disuade you from looking into this title. I gaurantee you'll have a blast watching it!
Martial Arts student Leroy Green is on a quest to obtain an elusive power known as 'The Glow'. However, in his search to find the one Kung Fu Master who can teach him this final level of Kung Fu greatness, Leroy must contend with the evil, powerful Shogun of Harlem, known as Sho'Nuff!! Aside from that, Leroy must also rescue a beautiful singer from the clutches of an obsessed record producer, who dreams of his no-talent wife having the spotlight! Now, Leroy has two foes to contend with, as well as strive to obtain The Glow!
It sounds cheesy...but don't let that fool you. This movie, quite surprisingly, is a ton of fun to watch! The action is actually pretty good, with some surprisingly decent special effects toward the end. Julius...

James Marsden, Thomas Jane, Piper Perabo and Academy Award® winner Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade, 1996) star in this action-packed adventure set in the Alaskan wilderness. After a relentless grizzly starts to wreak havoc on a small town, the sheriff heads into the forest to find his ecologist wife but instead crosses paths with his estranged, ex-con brother. They soon find themselves on the run from the massive killer bear. The hunted become the hunters in this edge-of-your seat thriller about the power of nature and the smell of blood.

Review :
Excellent giant grizzly bear thriller with a compelling plot, attractive cast, and convincing special effects.
This film is an excellent post “Claws” (Bansbach) “Grizzly” (Girdler) giant grizzly bear thriller with a compelling plot, attractive cast, and convincing special effects. Two brothers set out on a quest to pay their last respects to their late father along with an entourage of game and law enforcement professionals in a mysterious, "Bermuda Triangle" stretch of remote Alaskan forest named “The Maze”, where even Grizzly bears get lost. An intriguing, although not new hyper-intelligent bear premise similar to “Claws” and “Grizzly” is presented because the bear apparently kills for revenge or sport. As the Billy Bob Thornton character intones, “This bear is pissed-off!” Is it mankind’s incursion into the pristine wilderness and slaughter of innocent wildlife by poachers or perhaps the introduction of global warming and the resultant ecological imbalance? A gruesome poaching scene that is extremely well...
a blind and deaf blonde naturalist in grizzly country. alone. doing naturalisty things. with a vengeful grizz on the rampage.
ok, i lied about the naturalist being blind. "wow, what a cast," i said to myself (with nostalgic boyhood memories of clint walker's "the night of the grizzly"). no. the first clue: the aforementioned deaf 20-something naturalist deep in grizzly country. alone. with a vengeful killer grizz on the rampage. she's the wife of the 40-something sheriff - thomas jane. as premises go, this is monty python territory. billy bob thornton plays the "quint" part - he's the rogue alpha woodsman with cool glasses who hunts grizzlies with a... white horse. and like all the other pro-grizz hunters, including the sheriff, billy bob uses a .22 rifle. with a scope. at night. in a densely-wooded forest. to take down the mutha of all grizzlies. spoiler: the white horse makes it, billy bob's character, not. like the white horse, the bear spares the deaf naturalist (she's also white, and blonde). but chews up everyone with past bear blood on their paws. yeah, i said "paws"...
great suspense thriller
I thought this was a great movie. I am a huge fan of Bart the Bear, what a magnificent animal. Some people are too critical and have NO imagination. They want to focus on every little flaw where as I like to picture myself in the same situation as the characters in the movie. I loved the fact they listed Bart the bear with top billing before Billy Bob Thornton. After all he was the star and deserved an academy award for his part ;-) the location of the film was beautiful and just to think about running into a Kodiak Grizzly that wanted you dead would be your worst nightmare. I'm telling you this movie is more than worth watching and will keep you at the seat of your chair with your feet up. If you enjoy Bart the Bears acting than make sure you check him out in the movie Edge with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin.

Review :
A South African movie for the world.
I just had to add my two cents regarding this movie.

I am completely amazed at all the negative reviews of this cinematic achievement! Almost all of them are viewed through American and UK sensibilities. One case in point, is Hugh Jackman's character. I am from South Africa and know many types of people exactly like the character Jackman plays, and dress like Jackman's character daily. Those same people are former defense force and now excell in various forms of engineering and/or farming. Sigourney Weaver's character is exactly the type of corporate approach in South Africa in which the CEO'S and executives simply don't care about anyone or anything or purpose other that profit and making themselves look good. The criticism of the violence in the movie is born of ignorance, as in South Africa, crime and violence is simply an everyday occurrence. I'm not saying it is right or making any excuses for it, but it's simply there. And that's basically the message that Blomkamp is...
Like me, you have seen the Chappie trailers...
By now, like me, you have seen the Chappie trailers. If you have seen District 9 and loved it, and Elysium and wanted to love it but were a little disappointed, then you are filled with hope that Chappie will be on that path you felt with District 9. I would tell you to retain that hope, and go into Chappie with an open mind. It does go back to the gritty world of District 9 somewhat. Die Antwoord may not be for everyone, but again, keep an open mind. I think there is merit in having two non-Hollywood actors in the role of Chappie's "parents", regardless if their music is your taste or not. Most of the actors speak with a dialect and accent, but that is part of the setting. The droids are impeccable in their detail and actions, which I thought was great. There is plenty of violence and there are some sequences of cruelty. I felt the movie allowed the viewer to develop deep feelings for Chappie, as he develops feelings for the characters he interacts with. The story draws some...
So much better than what I was lead to believe. Blu-Ray+Ultraviolet looks awesome
Forget the early trailers and what many critics are saying. It seems marketing is more misleading than not, and some critics seem to miss the point. This is a good movie. I am a fan of Neil Blomcamp. District 9 left you wanting more and asking questions while Elysium was good, but I felt it wasn't fully realized. Chappie is a fully realized and well rounded with a combination of action and drama with a little bit of comedy to boot. Movies about robots who become self aware aren't hard to find, but Chappie does contribute to this genre of sci-fi in a way that resonates with me.

The story is essentially about a police robot scout that was damaged on duty, stolen by it's designer (Dev Patel), then stolen by a group of street level criminals (members of the Rap/rave band Die Antwoord). This robot was then used as a test bed for an experimental artificial intelligence program that is intended to give a machine the kind of feelings and expression humans often take for granted...

The world of Neill Blomkamp is unlike any other. Distinct of story and vision, and for the first time together in this limited edition Blu-ray set, District 9, Elysium and Chappie define Blomkamp as a true auteur. Relish in these action-packed hits with a new collection of extras, including limited-release special features on District 9 and Elysium, and an alternate ending and exploration of visual effects, weaponry and artificial intelligence on Chappie.

CHAPPIE: In the near future, crime is monitored by an oppressive mechanized police force. But now, the people are fighting back. In DISTRICT 9 we are plunged into a world where aliens have landed... only to be exiled to a slum on the fringes of Johannesburg. Now, one lone human discovers the mysterious secret of the extraterrestrial weapon technology. Hunted and hounded through the bizarre back-alleys of an alien shantytown, he will discover what it means to be the ultimate outsider on your own planet.

ELYSIUM:  In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth.  Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium - but that doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means necessary.  Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Review :
Awesome collector's set
Awesome collector's set! The book inside is freaking cool and Chappie and Elysium are both mastered in 4k and look phenomenal. Also, the Amazon page does not specify that this set DOES come with the ultra violet digital copies of all three movies. I highly recommend if you are a fan of these movies.

Don't laugh, I'm being cool!
Saw it in theaters, had to get it on blu-ray. If you like Blomkamp this 3 in 1 is absolutely worth it. Nice factoid/art book about the three movies is included within the case.

Get exclusive content and packaging, but do it when prices are good enough
Neill Blomkamp took the sci-fi world by storm with his relatively low budget megahit District 9, and has since gone to make two more successful feature films. Neill's movies have a distinctive world-building style to them that has become his signature along with storytelling that often delves into social/political statements. What you have here is the collection of all of his movies to date along with the special features from each. Additionally you get special features that were originally exclusive to special releases of their respective movies, and you also get a 64 page "digi-book" (it's a booklet printed in the blu-ray case). Personally I'm a big fan of all the films so far. Here's a breakdown of each film along with what I feel are the shortcomings:

District 9

This film is about a mild mannered government worker overseeing the relocation of a race of aliens from one poverty stricken shanty town to another. Along the way he gets involved way too...
