One choice can transform you-or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves--and herself--while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love. Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable--and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships. Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

Review :
3 1/2 stars for a good sequel and a fun trip
Theatrical review. Could be a spoiler. This is the second of the "Divergent" series and is a proper continuation from the 2014 original. Shailene Woodley returns as the protagonist Tris, who surprisingly joined the Dauntless tribe in the last film. She struggled with her acclimation in that section of the story, but here she's tough as nails. Her cohort and boyfriend Four (Theo James), lead a small band of fugitives that are being blamed for the massacre of the Abnegation (including Tris's parents) but who in fact were wiped out by the Erudite led by Jeanine (Kate Winslet) who survives the last film.

In an early scene we see the fugitives in a not-too-subtle portrait with Woodley surrounded by 3 of her on-screen boyfriends (James, Ansel Elgort from "The Fault in Our Stars" and Miles Teller from "The Spectacular Now"). I expect that poster will soon find its way into many a teen's hands. If you haven't seen the first film you will be at a bit...
Insurgent quick movie review
What’s it about?

Part two in the Divergent trilogy sees our heroes, Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) attempt to uncover the truth about their society’s rigid faction system and bring down its Machiavellian government.

What did I think?

Insurgent begins where Divergent left off – a little disorientating for those unfamiliar with the first installment or novels. For a dystopian teen drama, it’s a pretty bleak look at the lengths some will go to for power and pulls no punches when it comes to violence and death. The strong cast does their best with the at-times mediocre dialogue. The story moves along at a reasonable pace, spurred on by some decent edge-of-your-seat action sequences. An improvement on its predecessor, Insurgent builds to a satisfying climax while effectively setting up the final installment in the trilogy. Fans of the books and the first film will enjoy.

Some Pretty Amazing Special Effects! Insurgent Is a Worthy Sequel!
Insurgent is an action fueled joyride! Sure, Divergent did not receive the best of reviews. But really, it seemed like the biggest complaints had more to do with the comparisons to Hunger Games franchise instead of its merit as a decent Scifi/Romance. I actually read the book, and felt like Divergent had done a decent job of sticking to the narrative found therein. Insurgent is no different. If you liked the book, you won’t find much to complain about here.

Our main heroine is back with the love of her live (Four). This time she has the love of her life from the Fault In Our Stars, and the love of her life from The Spectacular Now to tag along on the adventure. For the most part this works. Miles teller is particularly funny in his comic relief role here similar to the skeptical ways of an early Harrison Ford in Star Wars.

Most of the plot in this movie is moving from destination to destination seeking refuge and gaining followers for the...
